Made from 100% Syrah grapes from vines that are now over 20 years old. 70% of the wine is aged in oak barrels of various ages. A cool year that led to a lighter in style than some years but is now nicely aged. It is soft, warm and spicy but with a touch of typical black pepper.

Etienne Berthoin is the owner/winemaker of this family wine domaine in Rhône. For many years the family sold grapes to the local co-op and to top négocient like Guigal and Jaboulet, but in 1993 they decided to start vinifying their own grapes. They have now have some 12 hectares of vines which they are now converting to organic production. They have invested steadily in barrels for the ageing of the wines and now feel happy with the proportion of new oak.
