Dr. H. Thanisch, Mosel Riesling
£17.50 Per Bottle
The Thanisch family looks back on a winegrowing tradition of over 375 years. In the early 19th century, the family acquired part of the Berncasteler Doctor vineyard. After Dr. Hugo Thanisch passed at an early age, his 28 year old wife inherited the estate, which was then named after the widow: Witwe Dr. H. Thanisch.
Since 2008, the estate Witwe Dr. H. Thanisch Erben Müller-Burggraef has been managed by the young and talented winemaker Maximilian F. W. Ferger. His vita is a prime example of how at times happiness follows a detour. While the Bremen born vintner had always wanted to become a veterinarian, his passion for wine was sparked by a random conversation he had as a young man with an oenology student who raved about the beauty of growing wine. Today, to Ferger wine is a never-ending amour fou he remains committed to with head and heart.
