They produced their first vintage in 2005 after they came across plots of 50-year-old Grenache vines. At the time, most Grenache was destined for blending. Deciding this had to change, they made these vines their focus and gave them the attention they deserved.
The winemaker, Skye took time to broaden her experience overseas, working vintages in Burgundy and Languedoc-Roussillon in France, and Canada’s chilly Okanagan region.
Description
A wine focused on preserving the purity and lift of old-vine fruit through a combination of whole-bunch fermentation and minimal oak influence. 60% of the wine is transferred to seasoned (older) French oak puncheons to undergo malolactic fermentation. The remaining 40% stays in stainless steel to retain primary fruit purity.
Raspberry aroma with a hint of violet. Warm cinnamon spice on the palate supported by juicy cherry and plum. Full-bodied with a fine dusty tannin and fresh acid line.
