2015 in the Douro was a year of good yields and excellent quality. A warm, but also predominantly dry, summer meant that the grapes ripened uniformly through to the harvest where rain in mid-September allowed for the perfect balance of colour, tannins, acidity, and alcohol.
Black cherries, plums and dark chocolate on the nose. Fresh, fruity and spicy, beautifully balanced by round, ripe tannins.
Quinta do Infantado, Vinatge Port 2015
£64.50 Per Bottle
Quinta do Infantado has been owned by the Roseira family for
well over a century and has long been known for ageing the
wines and bottling them on the estate in Pinhão, rather in Vila
Nova de Gaia. The name ‘Infantado’ derives from ‘Infante’ (the
Portuguese for Prince) and it was the Portuguese royal family who
first built the winery in 1816, as a place where they could collect
taxes in the form of grapes and wine brought to them by the local
growers. João Roseira, who did his first vintage at the estate at the
age of six, now looks after the A class vineyards and oversees the
winemaking along with Álvaro Roseira and consultant winemaker
Luís Soares Duarte.
